Ahh sweet September! Although for the most part this month is considered the slower season, to me it’s still the perfect time to make a quick trip to the islands. Travelling at this time of year has its benefits – here are a few things to love about travelling this time of year!
1. Better rates for flights and hotels have great deals and discounts. This time of year the demand for flight and hotel bookings go down so typically the rate goes down as well. Hotels will offer up to 40% discounts on some room categories. Also with the hotels being less occupied, you may even get a free upgrade!
2. Turks and Caicos in September provides the ultimate atmosphere for rest and relaxation. You can enjoy exclusivity and the keen attention to detail that may not be available during the busy season. Everything is better when there are less visitors around (including our airport which we’re working on to make less congested during the busy season)!
3. The absolute best thing about September is the opening of lobster season. Traditionally this is celebrated with lobster festivals where islanders rendezvous and lobster is served curried, grilled, jerk, steamed and in many other ways. Lobster is also added back to every restaurant’s menu during this time.
4. See the island as the locals do. Coming to the Turks and Caicos during the off season is the perfect time to see the culture of the islands in its truest form.
There you have it! This may be the perfect time of year to leave the kids at home and get away for a weekend. Although many persons hesitate to travel during this time because of the hurricane season, be assured that each hotel has a hurricane policy – be sure to ask what it is before you confirm your reservation.
