As the capital of Turks and Caicos, Grand Turk is not only surrounded by beautiful, quiet beaches, but is rich in colonial history, including historical buildings and monuments.

The Grand Turk Lighthouse is located on the highest point of the island, about twenty minutes by foot from Governor’s Beach. The lighthouse was constructed in 1852 after to warn trading ships about the shallow reefs that ring the island.

Transported in pieces to Grand Turk from London, the lighthouse stands 60 feet tall and is home to a herd of feral donkeys hoping for a from treat visitors.

The lighthouse is a starting point of a trail that will lead you along cliff tops to a deserted beach.

How to Get There

The Grand Turk Lighthouse is located on the northeast tip of Grand Turk. It’s too far to walk from the cruise ship dock or Cockburn Town, but can be accessed by taxi. It takes about 15 minutes by car.
