The 9th Annual Windvibes Watersports Tournament will be held Sunday 5th July 2015 on Long Bay Beach, Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands. Year on year this event has grown and morphed from what was originally only a handful of local kiters.

The brain child of local pro rider, Hope LeVin, the event took on a new dimension when her main sponsor and one of the events’ original supporters, Big Blue Unlimited helped move the event from the North shore to Long Bay. In doing so, Big Blue added and widened the appeal for the community by bringing kayaking and stand up paddling to the event.

In its current format the event is now no longer dependent on wind and kiteboarding but open to all water and beach enthusiasts.

The weekend of July 4th and 5th will once again be a watersports weekend in the Turks & Caicos with the 6th annual Race for the Conch Eco Sea Swim being run on Saturday the 4th July at Ricky’s Flamingo Cafe on Grace Bay Beach.

Windvibes is the Turks & Caicos Island’s largest and most comprehensive water sports event and the only one featuring kiteboarding. The event hosts five watersports: kiteboarding, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, windsurfing and swimming. All events are done on an amateur level where winning is not given as much importance as participation and fun.

This year the tug of war, The Big Blue “Pull your Weight”cup , will add another level of competition where only the winner matters, except that the Champions elect will be pulling for a charitable cause.

Simultaneously the Windvibes Charity Challenge is a relay race for teams of four competing in Kayaking, stand up paddling and swimming with all proceeds going to a local charity.

Former Olympian and windsurfing legend Brian ‘de Action Man’ Talma from Barbados will fly to the Turks & Caicos to host this year’s Windvibes event. Talma has been a competitive windsurfer for over 25 years and is an icon in the windsurfing industry. He will also be joined by windsurfing legend and 9 Times World Title Holder Kevin Pritchard of Hawaii.

Windvibes is a truly family friendly beach day at Long Bay with music by DJ Dayoh, freshly grilled food, and beach activities all day. Between races and events, beach goers are welcome to take out Big Blue Unlimited’s fleet of kayaks and sup boards they provide for the event and enjoy a day on the water.

See you there.
